Race Day!
What is brown water advisory?? It is when the run off water from the mountains enters the streams and oceans contaminating it with feces and other contaminates. Doesn't that sound like an open invitation to get right into it?!?!?! YES and to have a race while there is WIND! First canoe paddling race of the season and we were faced with crazy circumstances. wind.... rain..... and me being out of shape. Heres to a week of hard training and payback for not winning >.<

EAT THE STREETS!
The relatively new craze and event in Honolulu is Eat the Streets. This is an opportunity for various food vending trucks come together and where food fanatics and come and taste all types of wonderful food. For someone as indecisive as myself this is the PERFECT place to come to sample a little of everything. From brisket to Hawaiian plate lunch this place is the a food lovers paradise. The best tip that I can personally give is to bring friendS so that you can sample all that this event has to offer. This months pick is the Kalua pig sliders! small yet tasty its a soft roll with home made coleslaw and Kalua pig with an amazing barbecue sauce. And this is why I LOVE Hawaii

Today on islandlyfe:
Koko head; the CRAZIEST hike I have personally EVER done! it is at LEAST a hour long hike one wasy with the possibility of death. For all those who are reading this DO NOT DO IT! for a person who is MORTIFIED of heights this was not the smartest idea that I personally have ever had. Though I went with a friend the fear of possibly falling on my face was not pleasant. It starts off as something do-able then turns into the impossible. Crawling an all fours I left my dignity at the base of the trail. Now theres a term... TRAIL there is NONE! you are walking on termite eaten pieces of wood with rusted tracks on both sides. the half way point leaves you with a view of all of Hawaii Kai, though beautiful I am almost CERTAIN there is a better way to see it. This trail is well used by novice and professionals alike. More than once was passed up by runners... not just running but carrying chains, dogs, or children, and sometimes even both. Going up might have been hard but coming back down was a WHOLEnother story. The heights came in and my old training kicked in. I crab walked allllll the back to the base. The steep uneven ground was not compatible with my clumsiness. In all I was proud to have even done the trail but it was one of those Ive done it once and dont wanna do it AGAIN.
